In order to be close to our home in Bearsville, we recommend staying around Woodstock or Mt. Tremper. Whether you prefer the woods or the heart of town, we have you covered.

Stay

Hotels/B+Bs:

We have arranged for a block in the following Bed and Breakfasts close by:

Howland House | 1564 Wittenberg Rd, Mt Tremper, NY 12457

If your vision of a perfect upstate weekend is a B+B surrounded by trees, this is the spot. Conveniently located on the same road as our home, Howland House offers charming rooms and a beautiful wrap-around porch. It doesn’t hurt that their restaurant Oliver’s makes great hand pies and cocktails either.

Booking Instructions: Visit howlandhouseny.com and enter the code b210570. Rooms will be released to the public on May 3, should there still be any remaining.

Twin Gables of Woodstock | 73 Tinker St, Woodstock, NY 12498

Not as much of a “great outdoors” person? Perhaps a B+B in town is more up your alley. Tinker Street is the heart of Woodstock and is filled with cute shops and eateries. Between the bohemian decor and the rooftop yoga on Sundays, this spot embodies the Woodstock aesthetic.

Booking Instructions: No specific instructions, either call the B+B and let them know you are part of our wedding party or book online.

Other accommodations in the area that we recommend include Woodstock Way, Hotel Dylan, and The Herwood Inn.

Camping:

If your idea of a good time is pitching a tent and cracking open a cold one on Saturday morning…we are here for you:

Kenneth L. Wilson Campground | 859 Wittenberg Rd, Mt Tremper, NY 12457

Our most rustic accommodation recommendation also happens to be the closest: Kenneth Wilson is a convenient 3 minute drive from our home. Surrounded by the mountains and complete with bathrooms/showers and boat rentals, you can turn this wedding weekend into a camping escape.

Booking Instructions: Book a campsite spot on Reserve America.

Airbnb:

Want to have your own space to call home? There are plenty of Airbnbs available in the area.

Getting there

Flying

The closest major airport to Bearsville is ALB (Albany International Airport). Alternatively, fly into any New York City airport: if you are immediately traveling upstate from your flight EWR (Newark Liberty International Airport) is the closest drive, followed by LGA (LaGuardia Airport) then JFK (John F. Kennedy International Airport).

Train/Bus

Trains leave from Moynihan Train Hall at Penn Station and buses leave from Port Authority Bus Terminal nearly every hour. Both are comfortable and convenient: be sure to book ahead as summer transit can be busy.

For trains, get off at Rhinecliff station and continue by car to Bearsville. For buses, it is possible to travel to Woodstock/Bearsville but buses travel to Kingston much more frequently. From there, continue by car to Bearsville.

Driving

Driving from the New York City area is easy and takes roughly 2-2.5 hours depending on traffic. We recommend this as getting around upstate is much easier with your own car. Which brings us to…

Getting around

We highly recommend having access to a car during your stay. Taxis/Ubers are available, but keep in mind they typically take longer to arrive than in urban areas (usually 15-20 minutes) so scheduling rides ahead of time or planning ahead is a must.
